Event Save the Date - Monday 20th April

The MARAC team will be launching a Controlling and Coercive Behaviour awareness campaign in April called "See the Cs".

The aim of the campaign is to increase the basic understanding of the dynamics of this behaviour within our partner agencies with a view to enabling them to better support victims both from an emotional and practical perspective, and also evidentially. We of course see this behaviour across our MARAC cases and there is still much work to be done around identifying this type of abuse, and ultimately being able to evidence it when the crime is reported.

The campaign will be launched via a week of events commencing Monday 20th April, schedule as follows:

Monday 20th April – See the Cs Launch Event at Tally Ho

This is a one day conference aimed at supervisors and leaders, with guest speaker Professor Evan Stark headlining and more to be announced.

Tuesday 21st April to Friday 25th April – See the Cs Campaign Briefings at Steelhouse Lane Lockup

There will be seven events across four days.

These three hour briefings will encourage delegates to sign up as Campaign Champions and take forward the information provided within their own organisations.

They will receive an in depth briefing before being supplied with support packs and a strategy to both improve the understanding of and encourage conversation around Controlling and Coercive behaviour within their own workforce.

We hope to recruit around 400 "champions" across the region of all levels, expertise and specialisms who will be supported throughout the year.

More detail and official booking mechanisms will be shared soon, but for now please be aware of what is to come and save the date of Monday 20th April for the launch event.
