Target Audience

Anyone in contact with children, families through their work, including workers supporting adults with additional vulnerabilities, caring responsibilities or with their own care and support needs who have children in the household

Course Aim

This course should be pertinent for all services, organisations and agencies. Learning from the session can be used to form part of the staff induction for new workers in both adults and children services where roles and duties require an understanding of Wolverhampton's Multi-Agency Referral Process. It is also part of Safeguarding Lead training.

Objectives - by the end of the course participants will be

  • able to recognise and appropriately refer cases of concern in line with WST Threshold Policy.
  • have examined and applied Wolverhampton's Threshold model and early intervention in a variety of case studies
  • be able to describe the importance of embedding Early Help in practice
  • to know when to request the involvement of other services
  • describe the importance of gathering, recording and sharing information to support:-Child In Need (s17) and Child in Need of Protection (s47) referrals
  • recognise the importance of the WST Escalation policy and when it is appropriate to use it.
