Safeguarding Children - A Shared Responsibility

Target Audience

This course is particularly relevant for experienced practitioners who are actively involved in multi-agency work on a regular basis and/or those with responsibility for safeguarding matters in particular Safeguarding Leads in any organisation.

By bringing professionals from different disciplines together this course will examine a range of professional dilemmas with a view of increasing knowledge, skills and confidence to demonstrate and reinforce the message that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children can only be achieved by 'working together'.

By the end of this course, participants should;

  • be able to define inter-agency roles and responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • describe the processes involved in engaging with professionals, children and families, including contributing to strategy discussions, child protection conferences, reviews and the child protection plan
  • have consided relevant messages from research and how to apply underpinning theories into the safeguarding process, including the concept of 'resilience'
  • list the protocols and procedures to be followed, including the ways in which information will be shared and recorded across professional boundaries, within and between agencies
