Understanding Wolverhampton Thresholds and Early Help Assessment

Target Audience

Anyone in contact with children, families and vulnerable adults through their work.

This course should be pertinent for all services, organisations and agencies to form part of the staff induction for new workers in both adults and children services where roles and duties require an understanding of Wolverhampton's Multi-Agency Referral Process. It is also part of Designated Safeguarding Lead training

Course Aims and objectives

  • To enable those working with children and families to be able to recognise and appropriately refer cases of concern in line with WSCB Theshold Policy.
  • to examine and apply Wolverhampton's Threshold model and knowledge of early intervention in order to prevent escalation
  • be able to describe the importance of embedding Early Help in practice
  • to know when to request the involvement of other services
  • be able demonstrate the importance of gathering, recording and sharing information to support:-Child In Need (s17) and Child in Need of Protection (s47) referrals
