 Making Safeguarding Personal with Adults and Positive Risk Taking

 

The workshop will enable frontline workers and managers who support adults with care and support needs to explore:

  • What the law says we have a duty to do, to safeguard an adult with care and support needs
  • How does making safeguarding personal (MSP) support choice, control and positive risk-taking
  • The ethical dilemma of protection and safety – v – choice and control
  • Look at some case examples of real practice that has embedded MSP into less restrictive ways of achieving safeguarding outcomes
  • Consider some simple tools to embed MSP and positive risk taking into our practice
  • We will consider the legal context of adult safeguarding, the Care Act 2014 and developing legal literacy

  • Local and Regional Safeguarding Policies

  • Understand the responsibilities of each organisation in contributing to or leading a Safeguarding Adult Enquiry
  • Making an Enquiry – what does “good” look like
  • How to gather information and meet outcomes
