All schools are aware that governing bodies, management committees or proprietors of schools have duties in relation to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils. There is a range of statutory guidance available to help with these responsibilties.


This includes:

Working Together To Safeguard Children 2018 - the overarching statutory guidance governing how all agencies including schools and other educational establishments need to work together to safeguard children.

Keeping Children Safe in Education 2018 is the key document for schools and other education establishments.This statutory guidance oultlines schools' responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in their care.

Sexting In Schools and Colleges UKCCIS guidance  responding to incidents and safeguarding young people’ published in August 2016, is non-statutory, but should be read alongside ‘Keeping children safe in education’.
